2012 OHSAA Entry Level Referee Bridge Training

New High School Referees

Tentative date for this training will be in the June/July time frame.  Final schedule and location is in the process of being confirmed .... when completed, the schedule will be posted on this web-site (no later than mid-May).

Requirements to Qualify as a High School Referee

It is STRONGLY recommended that anyone desiring to become a High School soccer official have a minimum of  3-years experience as a Grade 8 USSF Referee.

New High School Referees (NOT registered as a Grade 8 USSF Referee)

To qualify as an OHSAA Referee, all aspiring new Referees must:

  1. Complete and satifactorily pass the USSF Entry Level Referee Training course (17 hours), as a pre-requisite to taking the OHSAA Entry Referee Bridge Training sessions. (This is a separate referee training clinic with separate requirements and fees .... see USSF Entry Referee Training).
  2. Attend Sessions 1, 2, 3 and the Outdoor Session of the OHSAA High School Entry Referee Bridge Training Course (10-11 hours).
  3. Pass the written NFHS qualification tests at the end of Session 3.

The fee for this High School Entry Referee Bridge Training Course is $120, which includes the OHSAA annual registration fee.  All checks are to be made payable to "SWOSOA".

New High School Referees (Currently registered as a Grade 7 or Grade 8 USSF Referee)

To qualify as an OHSAA Referee, all aspiring new High School Referees must:

  1. Attend Sessions 1, 2, 3 and the Outdoor Session of the OHSAA High School Entry Referee Bridge Training Course (10-11 hours).
  2. Pass the written NFHS qualification tests at the end of Session 3.

Pre-Registration Requirements

  1. Attendees need to pre-register by mail at least seven (7) days prior to the first session they plan to attend in order to guarantee space in the clinic.
  2. Registration will be accepted at the door as long as space is available with all pre-registered attendees being accommodated first.
  3. The pre-registration fee is $120 (non-refundable) for the full Referee Bridge Training clinic ... make checks payable to "SWOSOA" (one check for multiple registrants is acceptable).
  4. Include (print on any piece of paper): 
    • Your name;
    • Date of birth;
    • Mailing address;
    • Home or Cell phone number;
    • E-mail address (if you have one);
  5. Send information and fee to:

  6. Clinic Sessions (in whole or in part)
    • May be subject to cancellation due to lack of registered participants or
    • Clinic sessions may need to be limited in the number of participants subject to the size of the facility or
    • The site may need to be changed, thus the need for pre-registration
    • The need for all participants to check the website for any last  minute (meaning the day of) changes
    • Nothing is guaranteed.
  7. Bring pencil and paper.  NFHS and OHSAA rule books and other material will be provided as part of the course.
